Role overview

EirGrid’s AI Lab is accelerating its Transformation Programme and is looking for an AI MLOps Engineer. The successful candidate will be a member of the team delivering complex analytics and AI solutions that support both the Power System and wholesale Energy market in Ireland.

The AI Engineer will contribute to shaping the future direction of the AI Lab discipline within EirGrid through the design, development and maintenance of AI solutions supporting the strategic needs of stakeholder's industry wide.

Responsibilities

  • check_circle Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop, test and maintain AI solutions that solve complex business challenges.
  • check_circle Participate in code reviews, solution design discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives to optimise for efficiency and scalability.
  • check_circle Stay up to date with the latest AI trends and developments.
  • check_circle Provide related AI technical expertise and guidance, building trusting stakeholder relationships.
  • check_circle Contribute to the evolution of internal development practices and tools.
  • check_circle Collaborate in technical engagements with IT Architecture, Enterprise Security, industry stakeholders, software vendors, data consumers etc.

Basic qualifications

  • Proficient in AI development and implementation, typically 5+ years’ experience. Ideally in fast paced and data-intensive environments.
  • Skilled in working with MLOps on cloud platforms, preferably Azure.
  • Proficient with programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.
  • Familiarity with API development and integration of AI within applications.
  • Understanding of the risks associated with data management - including data handling, classification and data quality.
  • Experience on working with Large Language Models (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.) with fine tuning and prompt engineering practices. Co-Pilot Studio experience a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, demonstrating an understanding of inter-dependencies across a complex application landscape.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash). Experience with Fabric, Kubernetes and Power Platform tools is advantageous.
