Our work goes beyond building basic chatbots or isolated automations. We design and deploy complete systems in which AI agents can interact with APIs, business data, communication channels, CRM platforms, internal tools, and human approval workflows.

We are looking for a senior engineer who can help us build reliable backend systems and production-grade agentic workflows for Lunixes and its clients.

The Role

We are hiring a Senior Backend & Agentic AI Engineer based in Egypt to take ownership of backend development, AI workflow implementation, system integrations, and cloud deployments.

You will work closely with the founder, frontend engineers, AI engineers, and project teams to transform business requirements into scalable technical solutions.

This role requires someone who is comfortable owning a project from architecture and backend development through testing, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python and Django.
• Build secure and scalable REST APIs using Django REST Framework or similar technologies.
• Design and implement agentic AI workflows using tools such as LangGraph.
• Develop multi-step AI workflows involving agents, tools, memory, APIs, databases, and human approval.
• Integrate Large Language Models and AI services into business applications.
• Connect systems with third-party platforms, including CRM, ERP, messaging, communication, healthcare, and business-management systems.
• Design asynchronous jobs and background-processing workflows using Celery, Redis, queues, or equivalent technologies.
• Deploy and operate applications on AWS.
• Manage databases, cloud infrastructure, environment configurations, secrets, logging, monitoring, backups, and deployment pipelines.
• Work with Docker and containerized environments.
• Maintain clean GitHub repositories, branches, pull requests, releases, and code-review practices.
• Diagnose production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
• Write maintainable, documented, tested, and reusable code.
• Review technical requirements and contribute to system architecture decisions.
• Support and mentor other developers when required.
• Communicate technical risks, blockers, and implementation decisions clearly.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong professional experience with Python.
• Advanced experience with Django and Django REST Framework.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, APIs, authentication, authorization, and database design.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Practical experience building AI-powered applications or workflows.
• Understanding of LangGraph, agentic workflows, tool calling, structured outputs, state management, and human-in-the-loop systems.
• Experience integrating LLM providers and AI APIs.
• Good knowledge of AWS services and production deployments.
• Experience with services such as EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS, Route 53, or similar AWS technologies.
• Strong knowledge of Git and GitHub workflows.
• Experience with Docker and Linux environments.
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Redis, Celery, background jobs, or message queues.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into technical systems.
• Good written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building multi-agent systems.
• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, PydanticAI, CrewAI, or similar frameworks.
• Understanding of RAG, vector databases, embeddings, memory systems, and knowledge retrieval.
• Experience with FastAPI.
• Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with WebSockets, real-time systems, or communication platforms.
• Experience integrating WhatsApp, Meta, email, telephony, CRM, ERP, or healthcare systems.
• Knowledge of AI observability, evaluation, guardrails, prompt versioning, and model-routing strategies.
• Understanding of application security, data protection, and secure software-development practices.
• Previous experience in a startup, software agency, SaaS, AI, or automation company.
