The Prompt Engineer will work closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and business stakeholders to enhance AI performance through effective prompt development, testing, and optimization. This individual will help shape how AI systems interpret and respond to real-world business needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop, test, and refine text prompts to guide AI systems toward high-quality outputs for various applications including text generation, summarization, Q&A, and workflow automation.
- Evaluate AI model behavior and adjust prompt structures to improve accuracy, contextual relevance, and reliability.
- Utilize data-driven methods to analyze prompt performance and identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align AI capabilities with organizational goals and use cases.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related field
- 3–5+ years of hands-on experience in prompt engineering, NLP, or AI model optimization
- Proven ability to design and refine prompts for large language models (LLMs)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience interpreting and leveraging complex datasets
- Proficiency with one or more programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
- Demonstrated ability to stay current with the latest AI and NLP research trends
- Candidates must be based in the Metro Detroit area; sponsorship is not available for this role
